The Asian tiger mosquito, with a single white dorsal stripe. Breeds outdoors in tree holes, tyres and plant containers.
Anopheles stephensi
The urban malaria vector in India; rests with its abdomen angled up and breeds in tanks, wells and construction water.
Culex quinquefasciatus
Brown, night-biting, breeds in polluted drain water and septic overflow. Responsible for most nuisance biting and for lymphatic filariasis.
