How to Get Rid of Termites

Termite control means treating the soil and the colony route, not the individual insects you can see.

Termite control means treating the soil and the colony route, not the individual insects you can see.

1

Confirm the entry path

Trace mud tubes back to the point of soil contact. Treating timber without cutting the soil route achieves nothing lasting.

2

Remove moisture sources

Fix leaking plumbing, seal wall dampness and improve ventilation behind fitted furniture.

3

Clear cellulose contact

Keep firewood, cartons and stored paper off floors that sit directly on soil-adjacent slabs.

4

Drill-and-inject the barrier

Post-construction treatment drills the floor–wall junction at roughly 30 cm intervals and injects termiticide under pressure to reform a continuous barrier.

5

Treat wooden members

Infested skirting, frames and furniture are injected separately; surface spray alone does not penetrate galleries.

6

Use a warranted programme

Reputable termite work is warranted for years, with inspection visits — a one-time spray is not termite treatment.

Over-the-counter termite sprays kill foraging workers at the surface while the colony continues underground. Barrier treatment is the only approach that addresses the source.
